eero_modem.jpgThe Eero app can provide real-time information about your network, including "Thermal Events." A thermal event can occur when equipment is placed on other devices or in an enclosed cabinet, causing it to overheat. To protect itself from permanent damage, the device will operate at reduced performance until temperatures return to normal.

Here are some examples of thermal-related messages you might encounter in the app:

  1. High-Temperature Warning: This message indicates that Eero’s internal thermal monitor has detected operating temperatures above normal specifications.
  2. Thermal Throttling State: If an Eero is operating at reduced performance to reduce heat, this message will appear.
  3.  Overheating: When an Eero has been operating above normal temperature for an extended period, it may reboot to prevent further damage.

Here are some tips to ensure adequate ventilation:

  • Position your router in a central location within your home. Avoid placing them in corners, basements, cabinets, or closets.
  • Ensure that the space around the router is unobstructed to allow heat to escape.
  • Regularly check for dust accumulation on or near the device.

Overheating is just one example of Event Stream messages you might encounter that can help improve the performance of your wifi.
