It's almost time for the Vuelta a Espana to begin and here is what you need to know. This challenging race starts on August 17th and has 21 stages and covers a distance of 3265 kilometers (2028.77 miles). It includes 1 flat stage, 5 medium mountain stages, 8 mountain stages, 2 individual time trials stages, and 5 hilly stages (2 with high altitude finales). This race is internationally known and was started in 1935 by Spanish newspaper Informaciones. In 1937 it was suspended during the Spanish Civil War and again during WWII.
