I already have a tech scheduled to come out.
We've had a storm recently that knocked out our entire blocks internet and that was resolved but I am still without internet due to the fact that whatever got hit that took out the neighborhood also blew up my modem. It was my supplied modem and it is under warranty so it will be replaced so that is not my main issue.
What I am attempting to find out is if the grounding to my cable box outside of my home is properly grounded to prevent it from getting past that point and is this Mediacom's responsibility? I say this as this is the third time this has happened when my area/street gets taken down, anything attached to my coax line is blown up also. I initially thought this was unlucky but multiple strikes on the same line makes me think something else is going on. Perhaps something is not up to code that is allowing it to get that far into my home? I don't want it to jump from coax to other things that could potentially be dangerous.
I would like to make sure this doesn't happen again and if it is my responsibility to address this I will reach out to an electrician or whomever to fix it but with it being the line from Mediacom I would think they would not want someone other than them to be doing things in their utility box. Thanks.

Good afternoon @ChrisEric6581,
At this time, it would be best to have the tech come out and evaluate the issues onsite before making those calls. If there is something on your end that is needed, the tech should be able to identify those needs and relay that to you as well.
