We are being told that a system upgrade in Pensacola Fl will render DOCSIS 3.0 modems useless. Have been told this by some techs as well as support.
Can anyone confirm this?

Hello Dave104, We are currently in the progress of upgrading our network across our entire footprint. We have not been supporting DOCSIS 3.0 for some time and eventually they will no longer be usable on our network as we move onto the next iteration of DOCSIS once those upgrades are complete. If you use a rental, please SMS text or give us a call in order to exchange it out for a DOCSIS 3.1 and if you plan on continuing to use a 3rd party retail modem I would recommend using a DOCSIS 3.1 from our compatible retail list here: http://mediacomcable.com/compatible-retail-modems

What is the timeframe for the demise of 3.0 to stop working? Will you give adequate notice and not just a note on a bill that nobody reads?

The timeframe for the demise of 3.0 has been a couple years ago unfortunately(approx. 2022). We have not provided them or offered them in a few years now. They may have continued to work for some of the lowest tiers of service up to now or possibly reduced your speeds unintentionally, but as with the DOCSIS iterations prior to 3.1 and 3.0 we only maintain the most recent versions for compatibility. This happened before as we moved up to 3.1 we no longer supported 2.0, when we moved to 3.0 we dropped 1.1 and prior, etc.

3.0 modems work fine today on Mediacom. Would you please answer the question on when they will not work and the plan to notify paying customers?
