Ubiquiti UCI Modem Compatability

I’m considering purchasing the Ubiquiti UCI rack mount cable modem. It is not on the published tested/certified list, but is DOCSIS 3.1 and I’ve read a couple forum posts from users indicating that they were able to activate it on Mediacom, but just want to verify before purchasing. I have 1 GB residential service. Abbreviated specs:

Management interfaceEthernet
Bluetooth

Networking interface(1) 2.5 GbE RJ45 port
RF interface(1) Bluetooth v4.1

Upload: Dual OFDMA/ (8) SC-QAM, 5—42 MHz, switchable 5—85 MHz
Download: Dual OFDM/ (32) SC-QAM, 108—1002 MHz

DOCSIS interface(1) DOCSIS 3.1/3.0

I just ordered one. I will let you know if it works. Tomorrow, when I got it and got it installed, I saw on Reddit that three people where able to get it to work, but that was  posted over 1 year ago

While that modem isn't on our supported modems list, since it's a Docsis 3.1 modem, I would expect it to work.  Please know that Docsis 4.0 modems will likely be released next year.  Since that is a pricier docsis 3.1 modem, it might be worth while to wait for Docsis 4.0 modems when released.

DOCSIS 4.0 has a maximum downstream speed of 10 Gbps and a maximum upstream speed of 6 Gbps, while DOCSIS 3.1 has a maximum downstream speed of 5 Gbps and a maximum upstream speed of 1.5 Gbps. I will never get those speeds where I live, so DOCSIS 3.1 would work just fine for me I can only get 1gb down and 30 up

It works for me. If you do get it, you need to give Mediacom the Mac address and reboot it once.

I had the WAN and Coax cables plugged into the UCI, which had already been hucked up before I called, and they could see it on their end.
