Payment Scam Alert

Communication companies are reporting a potential payment scam where customers make a payment with a third-party payment processor who claims to be Mediacom or authorized to accept payments on behalf of Mediacom.  In this scam, the scammer takes the payment and the customer’s account never actually gets paid.

We want to make our customers aware of this potential scam and remind you that there are several ways that you can make a payment directly with Mediacom:

  • Customers can login and make a payment online via My Account at https://mediacomcable.com
  • Download the Mediacom Connect mobile app to manage your account and make a payment
  • Make an automated phone payment by calling 1-855-633-4226
  • Mail a check to the lock box address on your billing statement
  • Make a cash payment at several retail locations using Vanilla Direct Pay

As a reminder, Mediacom will never contact a customer unsolicited and request personal information, including payment account information.

If you think you may be a victim of this scam, you should contact your credit card company or bank to discuss steps you should take.

Communication companies are reporting that customers have been receiving emails, text messages and/or telephone calls claiming to reduce their bills. The scammer poses as an official company representative and advises they can save them a percentage on their bill or offers gift cards if the customer agrees.  In some cases the imposter requires the customer to purchase a particular gift card and read to them the gift card serial number in exchange for the deep discount on their bill. This is a scam where the scammer then pockets the proceeds of the gift card.

We want to make our customers aware of the scam, and remind them that Mediacom will never contact a customer and request personal information. In addition, we do not accept gift cards as a form of payment and would never require customers to make a gift card purchase in exchange for a discounted rate. If you receive an unsolicited call, text or email from Mediacom asking for personal information, or asking you to purchase a gift card or use a gift card as a form of payment in exchange for a special offer or discount, please disconnect this call and/or do not respond to the message.
