The NFL playoffs kicked off with a thrilling Super Wild Card Weekend, featuring six games across three days. Here are some of the highlights from the wild-card round.

Saturday 13th, 2024

Browns shake-up Texans: 45-14

The Cleveland Browns pulled off a huge upset over the Houston Texans, who were the No. 4 seed in the AFC and had won the division for the fourth time in five years. The Browns dominated the game from start to finish, scoring on their first five possessions and forcing four turnovers. Baker Mayfield threw for 321 yards and four touchdowns, while Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt combined for 211 rushing yards and two scores. The Browns defense sacked Joe Flacco six times and intercepted him twice, returning one for a touchdown. 

Chiefs head up Dolphins: 24-21

The Kansas City Chiefs survived a scare from the Miami Dolphins, who were the No. 6 seed in the AFC and had made the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The Chiefs led 24-7 in the fourth quarter, but the Dolphins rallied behind rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who threw for 296 yards and two touchdowns. The Dolphins cut the deficit to three points with 1:08 left, but the Chiefs recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock. The Chiefs extended their winning streak to 11 games and advanced to the divisional round for the sixth straight year.

Packers shock Cowboys: 48-32

The Green Bay Packers stunned the Dallas Cowboys, who were the No. 2 seed in the NFC and had won the division for the third time in four years. The Packers, who were led by backup quarterback Jordan Love, scored 28 points in the second quarter and never looked back. Love threw for 387 yards and five touchdowns, while Davante Adams caught 11 passes for 202 yards and three scores. The Packers defense forced three turnovers and sacked Dak Prescott four times. The Packers won their first playoff game since 2016 and advanced to the divisional round for the first time since 2017.

Lions end drought beat Rams: 27-24

The Detroit Lions ended their 32-year playoff winless streak, beating the Los Angeles Rams, who were the No. 3 seed in the NFC and had won the division for the second time in three years. The Lions trailed 17-10 at halftime, but scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter to take the lead. Jared Goff threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns, while D’Andre Swift ran for 102 yards and a score. The Lions defense held the Rams to 273 total yards and intercepted Matthew Stafford twice, including one in the final minute to seal the win. The Lions won their first playoff game since 1991 and advanced to the divisional round for the first time since 1992.
