Tasty Tuesdays: A New Recipe Every Week

With Valentine’s Day coming up in just a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to do a 3-course meal for a nice night in. These will be moderately budget friendly, and as always, feel free to make it your own! For the appetizer, I have chosen Baked Brie with Jam. Brie is such a versatile cheese and goes well with just about anything. The total time for this is 25 minutes, with only 5 minutes actively cooking. It is a great appetizer to start and cook while working on the rest of the meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 10.5oz wheel of brie
  • 1 clove of garlic, minced
  • ¼ tsp thyme leaves, preferably fresh
  • 2 TBSP of strawberry or raspberry jam
  • 1 tsp balsamic glaze
  • Fresh berries for serving

Instructions

  • Pre-heat the over to 350 degrees. Any oven safe dish can be used for this recipe, just tent foil loosely around the cheese to create a similar environment.
  • With a knife, score a grid pattern on top of the cheese. Sprinkle the garlic and thyme leaves evenly over the top. Top with jam and spread evenly, leaving about a ¼” border around the edge.
  • Cover and bake for 15-20 minutes. Check at 15 minutes to test for doneness. Insert the tip of a knife into the center of the brie. If it comes out warm or with melted cheese on it, it is done.
  • Let sit for 5 minutes to cool. After the 5 minutes, top with the fresh berries and drizzle with the balsamic glaze.
  • Serve immediately
