Price and new digital boxes

I  feel Mediacom is really shafting their customers by charging $9.99 per month per box for every new digital box they are making us use now. I as a customer pay $330 per month for their service, which comes to $4044 per year. At that price we should not have to pay for their equiptment thay are forcing us to now use. The $330 per month should be for all their service and the equiptment should come with their service

I am in the same boat as you since I purchased a Tivo device directly from Tivo and have Lifetime service and use a cablecard issued by Mediacom. Lately my TV signal is all distorted and I can not record anything because of it. In talking with Mediacom, all I get from them is that cablecards are no longer supported and I need to get the new cable box in order to watch TV. I do not see on their website any type of DVR to even rent anymore and seems they are only steaming cable over the internet vs the coax cable. Total BS if you ask me since I am now stuck with a brand new Tivo unit with zero information from Mediacom on all these changes other than the email saying they were doing some upgrades but not that we were loosing the ability to use our personal Tivo devices.

To continue using a personal cable box, you would need to add the Xtream TV app to the box and maintain an internet connection to the cable box in order to utilize service through the new format. We recently began allowing an unmanaged device plan for the cable services at the start of this month and no longer require at least 1 cable box in the home, so you only need to pay for the selected television service tier and access to the app is free for all compatible devices through use of Android TV, Apple TVGoogle Play® or iTunes® App Store.
